Lloyd Bell was named to this year’s inaugural Daily Report 2019 Georgia Trailblazers, a list of Georgia’s agents of change for the legal industry.
The list is comprised of legal professionals who have made significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancements in the legal industry. To select this year’s honorees, Daily Report accepted nominations from the legal community highlighting the ways each individual acted as an agent of change. Lloyd acts with a passion for justice and a vision for a better community – marking him an agent of change for medical malpractice litigation personally, locally and nationally.
Personal Impact
Acting as an agent of change in his professional development, Lloyd achieved certification as a medical malpractice specialist by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys – recognizing his superior knowledge and expertise to handle highly technical cases involving malpractice litigation. Lloyd was also named to The Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group of 100 of the leading plaintiff attorneys in the United States. As only the second attorney to be admitted from the State of Georgia, the invitation is a testament to Lloyd’s track record of courtroom success and his leadership in the legal community dedicated to helping victims of medical malpractice.
Local Impact
Lloyd also works as an agent of change in the Atlanta community, noted by his service on the Board of Directors for Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse. Atlanta-based Side by Side is the only non-profit in the Southeast dedicated solely to helping people rebuild their lives after suffering brain injury. Lloyd chaired the Side by Side Board of Directors during its first capital campaign more than a decade ago, helping to oversee the purchase of its current Stone Mountain facility. Now, he is proud to rejoin the board of directors and lead the 2020 Capital Campaign as the organization continues to grow and thrive.
National Impact
Finally, Lloyd’s medical malpractice expertise marks him as an agent of change for the nation at large. Recently, both the Congress and the Supreme Court of the United States have considered revisiting legislation surrounding the “Feres Doctrine,” a legal doctrine which prevents military personnel from suing the federal government in cases of medical malpractice. Lloyd offered his professional opinion through interviews with Newsweek, Military.com and Task & Purpose in hopes to see a change of this unfair law for the benefit of all our service-members and their families.
